Once Upon a Time...

Oh So Pretty began over a cup of coffee and a dream.
Let's see!  Where do I begin?  Of course my family comes first.  I am the youngest of four girls whom are all my very best friends.  We are the product of two tremendously wonderful parents.  I received my degree in Human Ecology and Fashion Studies from Montclair State University.  Straight from college I began to work for Ralph Lauren Childrenswear at Bloomingdales and Macy's in Short Hills and Manhattan specializing in visual display.  Very eager, amazed and captivated by the fashion industry in New York, I soon found myself working for Ralph Lauren in Manhattan as a assistant product developer.  Throughout my years with the company I knew I wanted and needed more.  In June of 2000, with the encouragement with my father, my sisters and I opened up a coffee shop.  It was here at our "Sanctuary" that I realized my true passion.  Nope...it wasn't coffee or dessert.  It was even better and more wonderful! It was a dream come true!
We hosted many in-house parties and specialized in intimate table scapes in which intricacy and personal detail were executed.  We also sold many handmade specialty gifts which were uniquely crafted by our own two hands.  One might ask, "What made our shop stand out from the rest?"  For one thing the space we created was very intimate which provided a warm and comfortable atmosphere.  Attention to detail was a large part of our style and our business which never went unnoticed.  It wasn't just about the food.  Every table was designed around the theme of the event and the guest of honor.  We made sure we had linens to set the tone, flowers to accent each table, candles to create the ambiance and music to enhance the mood.  All of this encouraged more events and amazing responses.  We wanted our customers to feel special...especially the guest of honor.  Our gifts brought so much feeling when people received them  that I began to craft more especially during the holidays.  "Feeling" became the driving force and the inspiration for our business.  In planning every event and making every specialty gift I asked myself, "How can I make my customer feel happy and special...an unbelievable emotion that every single human being longs to capture and hold.  We knew we may not have been  able to change the world but we also knew that even the few people we had touched, their expressions and feedback had been extremely rewarding and gratifying!
In January of 2001 I met my husband to be and in May of 2004 we were married in Disney World.  Never thinking my wedding in Disney World was possible...a dream wedding was what we had!  So many feelings and emotions went into planning our beautiful day!  All of my hidden talents had emerged in every aspect of our wedding.  Personal "detail" was the main focus that was recognized over and over again by my friends and family.  I realized at this very moment how in love I was with love.  I realized where my passion lied!  Joy and loved filled the air that day not only for my husband and myself but for all of our loved ones. It was truly magical!  Soon after our wedding, although bittersweet, we sold the coffee shop and thus
Oh So Pretty began.
So you see, it wasn't exactly coffee or dessert...it was my own two hands.  I believe
all things happen for a reason and all things are possible if you believe.
If you believe in your dreams and your heart, your passion will follow.
Believe in yourself...I did!
